Important information for Patients

 

We are changing OUR clinical system

on Tuesday 21 November 2017

 

 

Why are we changing systems?

We are changing the clinical system we use to store patient medical records to a system called EMIS Web. This is because our current system is ageing. There will be many benefits for patients in improving the way we manage their care.

 

During the changeover period patients will still be able to see a Doctor by ringing on the day for an appointment.

 

When is the change happening?

The Go Live date for changing to EMIS Web will be Tuesday 21 November 2017.

 

 

Doctors’ Appointments

 

  • Routine appointments will be available up to 17.00 hrs on Tuesday 14 November.

 

  • From Wednesday 15 November to Wednesday 22 November patients will need to ring on the day if they need to see the Doctor.

  • Forward booking of routine appointments will resume at 08.00 hrs on Thursday 23 November

 

Appointments with the Nurse

During this time period a number of same day nurses appointments will also be made available. These will be for Dressings, Removal of Stitches, Depo Injections, Emergency Blood Tests, Warfarin Blood Tests and Injections that cannot wait.

 

Prescriptions

If you have requested repeat medication, this will still be available for collection as normal.

 

If your prescription is usually collected by the Pharmacy, this service will continue.  

 

 

Will the Electronic Prescription System (EPS) still be available?

EPS (Electronic Prescription Service) will not be available from 19.00 hrs on Tuesday 14 November to 08.00 hrs on Thursday 23 November which means we will not be able to issue electronic prescriptions during this period.

 

2 Month Prescriptions

Week commencing the 16 October when a patient requests a repeat of their regular medication, we will be issuing 2 months’ supply to cover the change to EMIS Web (this does not apply to controlled drugs)

 

Patients need to make sure that they have enough medication as we will not be able to process repeat prescriptions from Wednesday 15 November to Thursday 22 November.

 

Patients requiring medication during this period, which is deemed urgent by the GP, will still be processed.

 

 

Online Services

This service will cease at 17.00 hrs on Tuesday 14 November. Patients already registered for Vision Online will be contacted via email by the 30 November with their new log in details for EMIS Web Online Services.

 

If you are registered for appointments only and we have a mobile telephone number we will send a text with details of how to register for the new system.

 

Please note that patients under the age of 16 years will not be eligible for Online Services.

 

We will not be accepting new online registrations from 25 October to 30 November 2017.

 

New Patient Registrations

We will not be able to process New Patient Registrations from Wednesday 8 November to Thursday 30 November.

 

On Thursday 30 November we will be taking new registrations in the afternoon from 14.00 hrs only. There may be a slightly longer turnaround time due to the system changes.

 

As you can appreciate all of the staff will be learning a new system and there may be delays, please bear with us during this period of change. Your patience is appreciated.
